Vision

Where there is no prophecy, the people cast off restraint, but happy are those who keep the law.
Proverbs 29:18 NRSV

Vision is an interesting word. It goes without saying that it’s all to do with seeing. We read of old testament prophets being called seers. Yet at the same time we realise that we “know in part and we prophesy in part.”  What follows below is a summary of some of the revelation revealed to St Toms over the past 25 years. If this is new for you we hope that it gives you a sense of our direction of travel, if this is all familar we hope that it will serve as a helpful reminder of things the Lord has revealed to us over the years.

Lord, thank you that you have spoken in the past.
What is it You are asking us to weigh again?
Please HELP US!
Pour out your Spirit again!

September 2025

“I see a magnifying glass and its aligned to magnify the rays of the sun.”

Discerned that the Holy Spirit is being focussed on us afresh at this time through freedom in worship.

April 24 – Isaiah 54 revisited again!

“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.

2023 Deeper Together

“I want us to develop shallow end opportunities where people can roll up their trousers and paddle and discover more of the goodness of God. I want us to be growing together as the body of Christ through prayer, worship, practicing openness to the gifts of the Holy Spirit and teaching. I want us to be people who launch out into the deep as disciples. I want us to be people who play their part in the great big family of God. Let’s not sell ourselves short. It’s time to go all in”.

Moving into 2022

“This is what the holy one, the true one, the one who has the key of David, the one who opens and no one can shut, and who shuts and no one can open, says: 8 ‘I know your works (behold, I have put before you an opened door that no one is able to shut) that you have a little strength, and have kept my word, and did not deny my name.”
Revelation 3

September 2021 – Deeper

“I see a red delivery van in the Church Lay-By. It is ready to go but the driver door is open – and the driver cannot yet drive it, because he needs to be re-fuelled. The back doors are open – and all manner of bread loaves are ready to be distributed.”

During a period of weighing, it was discerned that this may mean that we are waiting for a new leader who in some way is waiting to be re-fuelled, which is why we could not appoint in July.
The van being red was considered significant, as it represented the blood of Jesus being available to all as St Toms were being called to be mobile in future and be among the people of the parish.
Flo was seen as part of this fulfilment. The Bread of Life was to be offered to all… and heading towards The Fountain as our primary calling as a Church over the next 3 years.

The Lord of the Harvest
Luke 10:2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.”
The Lord is in the harvest and calling us to join Him there!

A further revelation had been given just after the meeting:
I saw the Vicarage and I was collecting a red book, when our new leader came in. I knew they had not been selected but called. As I turned round, I saw many people coming into the Vicarage, who were not presently in the Church.

Isaiah 12:
And in that day, you will say:
“O LORD, I will praise You;
Though You were angry with me,
Your anger is turned away, and You comfort me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
‘For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song;
He also has become my salvation.’ ”
3 Therefore with joy you will draw water
From the wells of salvation.
4 And in that day, you will say:
“Praise the LORD, call upon His name;
Declare His deeds among the peoples,
Make mention that His name is exalted.
5 Sing to the LORD,
For He has done excellent things;
This is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion,
For great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!”

In the last Deeper of 2021 these verses were shared prophetically from Psalm 84
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength;
Each one appears before God in Zion.

September 2021 “Coal in the Grate”

“I see a fire grate with burning coal embers and much ash on the hearth.
A hand holding a poker stirs the embers that start to ignite once more”.

We discerned this was the Hand of the Lord.

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,
Because the LORD has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
3 To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins,
They shall raise up the former desolations,
And they shall repair the ruined cities,
The desolations of many generations.
5 Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,
And the sons of the foreigner
Shall be your ploughmen and your vinedressers.
6 But you shall be named the priests of the LORD,
They shall call you the servants of our God.
You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,
And in their glory you shall boast.
7 Instead of your shame you shall have double honour,
And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.
Therefore in their land they shall possess double;
Everlasting joy shall be theirs.
Isaiah 61

June 2021 – Food Central

“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labour on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
Isaiah 55

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.
11 The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.
13 “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the LORD’s holy day honourable,
and if you honour it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
14 then you will find your joy in the LORD,
and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
Isaiah 58

June 2021

 Ezekiel 47 was shared once again with the river of God flowing out of the temple. A vision was shared:

I saw the St Toms Building and the river flowing from the altar to the back of the church and out into the surrounding streets. The water was ankle deep and she made a call to the people that night believing that there was an invitation from the Lord to go deeper into the river, as described in the Ezekiel passage. Many were filled afresh with the Holy Spirit and were encouraged to make a physical gesture of “stepping forward” towards entering the river of God to a depth where they were swept along by the current.

A picture was shared of an ark like Noah’s on the river and felt it symbolised a place of refuge and safety; and that God was building an ark of refuge that would go with the flow of the river.
A further insight suggested that the ark was made up of planks joined together and these planks were people; individuals linked together in community, that provided the refuge. Individually, planks are buffered by the river, but together they flow as a unit and he referred to the logs that are transported down rivers in Canada.

March 2021 – Return to Zion

17 “The poor and needy search for water,
but there is none;
their tongues are parched with thirst.
But I the LORD will answer them;
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
18 I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water,
and the parched ground into springs.
19 I will put in the desert
the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive.
I will set junipers in the wasteland,
the fir and the cypress together,
20 so that people may see and know,
may consider and understand,
that the hand of the LORD has done this,
that the Holy One of Israel has created it.
Isaiah 41

18 “Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
20 The wild animals honour me,
the jackals and the owls,
because I provide water in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
21 the people I formed for myself
that they may proclaim my praise.
Isaiah 52

7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the LORD returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.
9 Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the LORD has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
10 The LORD will lay bare his holy arm
in the sight of all the nations,
and all the ends of the earth will see
the salvation of our God.
Isaiah 43

2020 – Uncapping the Wells

In 2020, the Lord showed us that he was about to “Uncap the previous “Wells” of blessing in our community

18 And Isaac dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham. He called them by the names, which his father had called them.

2017 – Isaiah 54 revisited

2010 – Heal our Land

We say yes to ‘Heal our Land’ in the big top at Wyvern.

2005 – Eat what Grows by Itself

30 “This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 31 Once more a remnant of the kingdom of Judah will take root below and bear fruit above. 32 For out of Jerusalem will come a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
Isaiah 37

2000 – Ezekiel 47

The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar. 2 He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was trickling from the south side.
3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits[a] and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. 4 He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. 5 He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross. 6 He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”
Then he led me back to the bank of the river. 7 When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river. 8 He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah,[b] where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh. 9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. 10 Fishermen will stand along the shore; from En Gedi to En Eglaim there will be places for spreading nets. The fish will be of many kinds—like the fish of the Mediterranean Sea. 11 But the swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt. 12 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”
