Open homes

Our ‘open homes’ are small groups that meet fortnightly in local homes. They meet for prayer, bible-study, worship, fellowship and mutual support. You can find a description of each open home below. If you would like to find out more click the Contact tab above or speak to one of our Sunday morning service leaders.

Leaders: Dave and Pam
Location: Mortimers Lane
Day and time: Alternate Wednesday evenings

We start at 7:30pm with coffee and chat in the kitchen, then we move through to the lounge, always starting with prayer. The primary focus of our group is care for one another, praying for one another, listening to God and laying our burdens at His feet. We will have a bible passage to consider together or a story to share, and before we know, it is 9:30pm and time to bring the evening to a close. Do give us a try.

Leaders: Dave and Daphne
Location: Crowd Hill
Day and time: Alternate Thursday evenings

A welcoming group, a small community, a family, together we share faith, fellowship, prayer, learning, laughter and support. With God at the heart of us all, he leads us to read from the bible and talk about what it means to us. We all interpret things differently, so it gives us lots to think, talk and learn about.

GOD – We talk about what God does for us and what we can do for him.
SUPPORT – We support each other and encourage discussion, but there is no pressure to participate.
READING – We read the Bible and learn how to apply its messages in our lives.
TOGETHER – It’s great exploring your faith together with other people.
PRAYER – We pray for each other and important things both locally and in the wider world.
LEARNING – We learn from each other and respect everyone’s views.
COMMUNITY – We all attend for similar reasons and come together to build a friendship community.
FAITH – We grow our faith together.
FELLOWSHIP – We all share an interest in faith, worship and mutual trust with a friendly feeling.
WELCOME – Everybody is welcome: you feel that from the very first meeting.
LAUGHTER – Some of the topics we discuss are serious, but we always find something to laugh about.

Leaders: Lucy and Diane
Location: Whalesmead area, Bishopstoke
Day and time: Tuesday evenings

Welcome to our Open Home—a place of friendship, food, and fun, where everyone is welcome and Jesus is at the heart of it all. Whether sharing a meal, watching a movie, or praying for each other and studying the bible together, we aim to create a space filled with love, warmth, and faith.

Leaders: Bob and Wendy
Location: New Road
Day and time: Wednesday early afternoon

The Shack, this is where our group of “mature”disciples of Jesus meet each to enjoy fellowship, seeing the Holy Spirit at work and getting closer to Jesus.

Our study focuses around reading and then discussing Bible passages, either following a specific old or new testament book or a specific theme. Being blessed by a range of knowledge and understanding within the group, we can help and support one another on our Christian journeys.
Prayer is a key part of our time together and we spend the final 20 minutes or so devoted to praying for one another, for the local neighbours as well as for other prayer needs highlighted by the group members. Importantly we always close with “The Grace”.

We also love and enjoy our fun time together and we are blessed so often by the sun shining though the patio doors of The Shack. This truly reflects the support, encouragement, love and prayer, which is ever present when we meet.
On the first Wednesday of the month, we meet in the church extension to join others sharing the excellent lunches provided by St Thomas’.

The Shack is where it all happens!!

Leaders: Leslie and Daphne
Location: Crowd Hill
Day and time: Tuesday evenings

Welcome to our women’s open home. We offer a safe and nurturing space where we can come together to connect, grow in faith and support one another. Wherever you are on your journey of faith in Jesus, you are embraced with warmth and encouragement as Jesus encourages us. We hope you find peace in the power of prayer and the Holy Spirit as we journey together in friendship and faith.

Leaders: Danny and Pippa
Location: off Mortimers Lane
Day and time: Alternate Wednesdays

We start with tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits – sometimes cake! We then pray for one another and share our lives together, in both the ups and downs. To this end we have a WhatsApp Group for all regular attendees. We then study the scriptures together – and encourage robust conversation interspersed with fun and “agreeing to disagree” well! We also have people who join us from 3 generations: which on occasion makes things lively! We close in prayer and look forward to our all being together again, if possible, on the intervening Wednesday evenings.

We also gather for “socials” where friends and other family members are encouraged to attend!
You would be very welcome to join us!
